The Conrad Indianapolis was envisioned as the mark for Hilton Corporation's Conrad Hotel and Resorts luxury brand within the U.S. This concept introduced refined design concepts intended to reflect and enrich the Midwest with its inception in the Crossroads of America.

Conrad Indianapolis was marked with the position as the prototype and model for conceived and future hotels during the aggressive growth of Conrad Hotels worldwide, thus, setting the standard for luxury design and experience. This venture encouraged creative alignment for branding, marketing and advertising while focusing on the overall identity of Conrad. The task at hand was to discover, define, design, and deploy creative solutions that met the demands of longevity of design within budget during time sensitive time period.

Branding

Branding was created to instantiate an identity for Restaurant du Soleil, a five star brassarie, and Vitesse, an accompanying lounge, to reflect the Conrad brand, the interior design, and its unique relationship to the Midwest area as Indianapolis’ first luxury hotel. The brand design demonstrated flexibility for reproduction into various promotional products including, but not limited to; signage, coasters, napkins, menus, and take away packaging.


Processes
Due to Chef's inventory on demand requirements with daily menu updates, an in-house printing system was formulated allowing immediate updates using a friendly application. Menu paper was appropriated by a local printer who maintained the stock necessitated by Conrad.
Menus
Menu designs were developed using the criteria established through consultation with Executive Chef Jonathan Wright as a detail that would complement the Restaurant and Lounge. Design consultation ensured the menus longevity, functionality, flexibility, costs and unique design element.

restaurant
Food: mahogany wood slate panels with zinc corners accommodating an 11x17 sheet. Recommendation: menus addressed to guests horizontally for dinner and vertically for lunch.

Wine: copper plates with a patina embossing and lined with rich red leather.

lounge
Tappas: pearlized embossed leather lined with a black satin to complement the masculine and timeless style of the lounge.

tea
Created in the shape of a tea bag, this construction used all rich sienna fabrics covers, printed fabric pages for standard tea selections and open pages for vellum inserts for daily specials.
Invitations
Conrad Grand Opening brought the world-renowned Vienna Opern Ball to the Indianapolis scene. With only a two week window, original photography, copy, and print sources were secured while working directly with the Opera staff. In three days, a memorable and original invitation was created and delivered.
